Play ball

After a day of rain, things were back in action today
Technically, some things got done yesterday.
But inside - which means on the main level, because upstairs...

Only way you're staying dry under that roof is if you have an umbrella
But it's not like it was a perfect day.
While I was out taking pictures, it rained

While at the construction side across the road...

It's just not fair.
But I can't help but notice that this thing is starting to look like a house.

I spoke with our project manager today.
I e-mailed him in the morning to ask if the crew was enjoying swimming in the newly filled basement pool after 2" of rain.
He called back and assured me that the materials could handle the 2" of rain and then some.  Even said that snow isn't a big factor - which we don't intend to have to worry about.
Though after building houses in the snow, you'd think we'd see windows with screens on them.

Anyway, the guys who were out working today didn't seem concerned they were going to fall through
So, I'm okay with it.

It's not a video, but it's another picture of the hoe that lives on our lot.
Once we move in, this hoe won't live here no mo.

Here's another look at the entire scene

Last time we had a progress day, the 1st floor windows were in.
Well, now...

I couldn't remember if we had a picture of the front step yet.
So here's one.

Looking through the windows, you can see some of the 2nd floor framing

They must've been working up there...
They left the lights on so we can see the framing.
Lights are all off downstairs.

But here's a closer look at some of the framing.
If I was standing where I think I was standing, this is the master bedroom

We weren't sure if we needed the "bonus room"
We thought about finishing the basement or doing the bonus room.
Then we thought some more...
A basement is an open area under the house.
The bonus room is wasted space above the garage that doesn't get framed - or even built out if you opt against it at construction time.
In other words, almost too ridiculously expensive of an undertaking to put in at a later time
So we put in the bonus room...
It'll be nice to have an upstairs playroom; we can always finish the basement later.
We did plumbing rough-ins for a bathroom down there.
Here's a zoom-in of the build-out section of the bonus room.

I decided to remain left justified on my text.
I should really use the true "caption" feature on the blogger system.
But this is how we roll.

We're getting close - the roof is framed, and we were told once it goes up, the house is about 60 days from being done.  So, a few more days of this, then some electrical work, and we'll be getting set for a pre-drywall walk-through.  Exciting stuff.
